  • Graphic Mural Art and Production Coordination.

  • Color Coordination for Building Exterior and Interior.
  • Textural and Color Patterns on common materials.
  • Structural elements, arches, railings, benches, decorative windbreaks, fountains, planters, sun reflectors, small buildings.
  • Identification of Facilities with Symbol and Logotype, color theme and associated graphic design materials.
  • Interior graphic themes: walls, floors and sculptural, architectural decorative applications.

Selected Exhibitions:

Trade publications are the typical method of exhibiting the work of a designer. The design industry has a number of publications which have annual awards to designers who have made a contribution to the industry. This recognition is usually given for a common problem solved in an uncommon way. My design work has been published by several national and international design magazines.

Exhibitions/Awards

Communication Arts Magazine, Design Annuals 1974, 75, 76 and 1977 for design work shown. Print magazine-design work shown. Idea Magazine (Japan) design work shown. (Please see my resume for additional awards and recognition)

Publications and Reviews:

  • A feature article in Communication Arts was published in 1975. The article featured Ed Penniman and Associated Design in Santa Cruz California.
  • "Trade Marks of the World" (Japan) 455 ppgs, color, featured 38 examples of my work. Trademarks and application to stationery, trucks, aircraft graphics, package design and more.

Commissions Public and Private:

  • County of Santa Cruz: Most noteworthy is the commission by the County of Santa Cruz to design a flag for the County of Santa Cruz. Excellent experience working to coordinate the project with five individuals with very different viewpoints on what should represent Santa Cruz County.
  • Santa Cruz Symphony: Symbol and Logotype and Colors.
  • Santa Cruz Seaside Company (very public art) numerous wall murals, architectural design concepts for carousel building interior, roller coaster building exterior and interior and more.
  • Over a hundred ninety-five company identity programs in the California central coast area including the design direction for the symbol for Pebble Beach Golf Course for the Del Monte Corporation. (The design was revised by another designer in 2002 when ownership changed to Clint Eastwood)
